Shahid Kapoor On Not Charging Money For Haider And Feeling Inadequate As An Actor

Shahid Kapoor On Not Charging Money For Haider And Feeling Inadequate As An Actor

Shahid Kapoor is tremendously charged about his next project, Vishal Bharadwaj’s Haider … so much so that he has not charged the filmmakers his usual fee for a film. The actor explains, “When we heard about the project from Vishal sir, we felt we wanted to be as true as possible to the film; and we didn’t want the pressure of my remuneration to curb us. We wanted to put all the money in the film; and I feel it was the right decision.
Motivating the actor was the fact that the Shahid-Vishal team has worked successfully earlier. As Shahid points out, Vishal had given me the best role of my life so far in Kaminey and it’s amazing to get an opportunity to work with him again.
Shahid plays the title role in this adaptation of Shakespeare’s famous play, Hamlet, which is about the melancholy Prince of Denmark who seeks to avenge the death of his father and has a troubled relationship with his mother. Shahid enthuses: “I am very fortunate to be get the opportunity to play a character based on Hamlet which is a very rare opportunity that very few actors all over the world have got. I feel very, very lucky.”
The actor acknowledges it is a difficult role and says, “It’s very difficult to prepare for the role but I had lot of support from some fantastic actors which helped me a lot. Being in the same frame with actors like Tabu, Kay Kay Menon, Irrfan Khan was a huge learning experience for me.”
Vishal, who has earlier helmed adaptations of other Shakespearean plays in Maqbool and Omkara, was Shahid’s mainstay. The actor reveals: “The only reason I thought maybe I will be able to pull off this is because I have Vishal directing me. I spent a lot of time with him and he really helped me through the entire journey. This is one role which makes you feel very inadequate as an actor. Every day when I use to go on the set I use to feel that I am not good enough to play this role.”
Shahid says he immersed himself in his role. “I don’t think you can switch on and off when you play a role like this; you need to stay in that zone. We were very lucky to shoot in Kashmir as it has a certain energy which is unique.”
The play is dark, and the film’s promos also captures the tense mood of the story but Shahid dismisses such concerns. “I think we are so used to heightened reality, which is really bright and nice and colourful and honestly not like real life, that when we see something real, we feel like it is dark,” he posits. “I think Shakespeare talks about relationships which are the most real and honest.”

Alia Bhatt: I don’t think Randeep Hooda meant any harm

Hooda recently claimed that Highway ended up being an Alia Bhatt film

Randeep Hooda, one of Mahesh Bhatt’s protégés, had stated recently that Highway ended up being Alia Bhatt’s film instead of his. Alia says, “I don’t think Randeep meant to be spiteful. He is not a negative person. And we share a wonderful rapport. See, no one expected a performance from me. On the other hand Randeep is a renowned redoubtable actor known to give brilliant performance. So I guess I was the surprise element.”
Alia feels Randeep was absolutely essential to the film. “Let me tell you, without Randeep my performance in Highway would not have been what it was. And not one person has said Randeep was not brilliant in the film. I think Highway was as important a film for me as for him. I don’t think Randeep has any reason to feel upset.” Being the positive person that she is Alia thinks for a few second and concludes,“He was very excited about my performance. I don’t think he meant any harm.”
Alia Bhatt who is geared for her fourth release this year is not observing the holy fast during this month of Ramzan with her father Mahesh Bhatt. But she reveals she has done the holy fast in the past just to feel close to her father. Says Alia, “I did observe the Holy fast, because my father would fast and I felt if I did the same I’d be close to him. Interestingly my father observes the holy fast because he feels it brings him close to his mother’s memory. And I did it because it brought me closer to him. We would wake up early in the morning and eat together. That is a memory which I still hold on to.”

She’s most popular as Mihir’s ladylove and Ishita’s lovely sister in Yeh Hai Mohabbatein

Mihika Verma is very happy with her Star Plus show Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, and why not the babe who is seen as Mihika Iyer, Ishita’s (Divyanka Tripathi) adorable cousin sister has moved over playing a vamp on small screen. In a candid chat to BollywoodLife Mihika said, “At first when I signed this Balaji Telefilm production I was excited for this was a change in the sense that till now I had only played negative kamini woman (Viruddh, Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil and Kitani Mohabbat Hai) Luckily for me the positive reaction has exceeded my expectations. Normally daily show only centres around the leads, but here we have a truly ensemble cast and we all influence the life of the Ishita and Raman . This Ekta Kapoor production has been the second innings for most actors on our project be it me or the leads i.e. Divyanka Tripathi and Karan Patel.”
The actor who has portrayed negative characters on screen added, “Although that there is sizeable audience which loves stuff what we don’t like yet, if those some guys are also appreciating Yeh Hai Mohabbatein it shows that they too want change but not at the cost of entertainment. And our show has all the ingredients that a good concept needs. I would say that is a good bed time story for adults.”
So has the show affected the actor personally? “I would always laugh when other actors would talk about internalizing their characters but playing Mihika has brought about a positive change in me as well. She is so out there and will not take shit from anybody, I am becoming the same as well. Ekta chose for this for character saying that I perfectly fit the character. May be that is why she named the character Mihika as well.”
That’s not it Ms Verma also plans to anchor shows in the future,“People say that I am very confident. I am talking to Star for a few such projects.”
She is also game to do something like Bigg Boss, “I am totally Bigg Boss material. And main things since I don’t have any hidden skeleton in my closet I can freely entertain every body else.”
As for fiction she is happy with Yeh Hai Mohabbatein,“It would be tough to do something else as the bar has been set very high. Personally I would like continue with the positive vein I will leave behind negative avtar as people love me in the most as the good girl.”

Is Alia Bhatt heart broken by Varun Dhawan?

Sources reveal that the Humpty Sharma ki Dulhania actor is ‘getting over’ her crush on Varun

Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan are spending a great amount of time promoting their up coming film Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. Unlike the regular Bollywood couples, these two are different – they have amazing off screen chemistry. If you had to spend time with the two its quite clear how comfortable and relaxed they are in each others company. So are they a couple or just friends, or merely co-stars who will go different ways after their film release. We find out…
A source close to Alia revealed that she does indeed have a huge crush on Varun. “She’s definitely into him. It’s quite evident that there is a lot going on between these two, but they aren’t dating. In fact Alia and Varun are sort of in a transition between their respective boyfriend and girlfriends. Varun has been in an on-off relation with his long time girlfriend Natasha Dalal. While Alia is also friendly with a guy who’s not from the industry.”
Buzz is that Alia did have a crush on Varun like most of the girls in the country, but she’s managing to get over it with time! We don’t blame her given the charm that Varun can cast over anyone and also the fact that they have done two films together. We hope Alia does whatever it does to get over her little crush. Maybe listening to her own song Samjhawan might help ?
